The magnificent natural beauty of Sooke and the Juan de Fuca Region provides inspiration to a dynamic and vibrant arts community. Since 1986 the annual adjudicated Fine Arts Show has been showcasing not just regional artists but the up-and-coming artists from throughout Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. The Sooke Fine Arts Show is now widely recognized as one of the premier art exhibition and sales in western Canada. This 12-day summer arts festival held at the end of July and early August displays a broad selection of work in many mediums. Painting, photography, jewellery, ceramic/glass and fibre art is featured and collectors snap up most of the work long before the show ends. Artist demonstrations, live musical performances, children’s events, culinary evenings and wine tasting are all part of the lively and entertaining schedule. Sooke Community Arts Council
