About & Contact Us

The Sooke to Port Renfrew region is made up of the small rural communities East Sooke, Otter Point, Shirley, Jordan River, French Beach and Port Renfrew plus the District Municipality of Sooke. The region is rich in cultural and historical diversity, featuring a wonderful blend of old world heritage, First Nations culture & history and new young families assimilating into communities rich in tradition and purpose.

For years we realized that we were not letting the traveling people of the world know what a fabulous recreational area we have, with some of the best salmon fishing anywhere, hiking country that covers the casual to the intense interests, family recreation in beach and trail walking, surfing, camping and much much more. In 2008 a group of business people and local political leaders, spearheaded by the Sooke Harbour Chamber of Commerce, formed the Sooke Region Tourist Association, and with the help of the District of Sooke, The Juan de Fuca Economic Development Commission and Tourism Vancouver Island created a budget, obtained funding, sold memberships and set goals that will let the world in on our secret – we offer the best blend of recreation, natural and rugged beauty worthy of our tagline – Wild by Nature!
